git on hosted webspace

Answered

I'm interested in using the free webspace to host a private git repo. To achieve this I'd need the host to be running an ssh server and have git installed.

1. It appears that the host doesn't have an ssh server running, at least. Would it be possible for this to change?

2. Does the host have git installed? If not, could that change?

I am fully aware that

i) This is a loooooong shot!

ii) There may be very good reasons for not wanting to expose an ssh server

iii) The repo would not be very private or have guaranteed uptime, etc.

Thanks for your time.

SSH isn't something we planning on the bundled hosting service at the moment at least i'm afraid, but is something we are considering for the future.

You would be able to use git via SSH only (it wouldn't answer to any other port or allow socket access) due to being a shared environment.

Okay, I'll try and check back periodically in case you get time to add ssh.

FYI, git over ssh is preferable for my needs anyway as I want a private repo and ssh is the most secure way of doing this (as far as I'm aware).

Thanks for the info.

If you've got the existing hosting account, we will email you any changes to the service when they are released. :)
